Abstract: We give an introductory talk on a recent progress in so-called PT-symmetric quantum theory, in which the usual self-adjointness requirement is replaced by a weaker Parity-Time invariance. Introducing a simple PT-symmetric non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, we focus on spectral properties (among other things we prove that the spectrum is real) and demonstrate how the problem can be reformulated as a Hermitian (but difficult) one in a different Hilbert space.
