Job description

The Group of Mathematical Physics of the University of Lisbon (GFM-UL) invites applications for one five-year research position in the following areas:

  1. Industrial Mathematics and Mathematical Modelling
  2. Mathematical Computation
  3. Optimization (Deterministic/Stochastic)

Applicants should have a PhD in Mathematics or equivalent, and a strong mathematical background in one or more relevant areas such as Analysis, Applied Dynamical Systems, Combinatorial Optimization, Numerical Analysis, Numerical Optimization, Stochastic Analysis and Modelling, Stochastic Optimal Control, etc.

A strong publication record which clearly demonstrates the ability of carrying out independent research is required. Experience of interaction with industrial partners will be a plus. Besides carrying out research, the successful candidate is also expected to participate actively in the development of GFM-UL's activities in connection with Industry.

Candidates should have a minimum of three years postdoctoral research experience.
